FALL 2018 In Dallas’s Design District, Federation’s annual Pacesetter Event, chaired by Mahra and Kevin Pailet, Michael and Pam Pidgeon, and Debbi Levy Rothschild and Barry Rothschild, was held on Tuesday, October 30 at The Hall on Dragon and welcomed more than 150 of our community’s major philanthropists for an evening of connection and community raising more than $1.8 million. We are proud that our Pacesetters have a 94% retention rate and 17 new Pacesetters were welcomed. The evening featured Randi Zuckerberg, entrepreneur, investor, bestselling author, and tech media personality, along with case for giving speaker Kevin Pailet. The evening highlighted the impact that our Pacesetters make on our annual campaign and on the community. A new endowment initiative launched that evening will guarantee continual support for the Federation’s contributions and impact. To learn more about this initiative and how you can create an endowment please contact Bradley Laye (blaye@jewishdallas.org) or Mariam Shpeen Feist (mfeist@jewishdallas.org). We are grateful to our Pacesetters, those households who give $12,000 annually to the Federation’s Annual Campaign, for their commitment and generosity to our community. The Pacesetter Event Thursday, October 18 brought out the best and the brightest of our young adults to The 2019 YAD Event held at The W Hotel in Dallas with almost 300 guests in attendance. The evening, chaired by Amanda and Aaron Brown, Erin and James Epperson, Emily and Brett Luskey, and Tracey and Shane Stein, many of whom are graduates of the Federation’s 18-month Leadership Development Group and one member of JFNA’s (Jewish Federations of North America) National Young Leadership Cabinet. Leaders from many of the 11 young Dallas Jewish organizations were table hosts during the event. 48 gifts from new donors totaled $82,969 compared to the same gifts from the same donors last year that totaled $69,945 — a 19% increase. Thirty-eight young adults qualified for our new YAD giving societies: 21 new Chai Society members ($180–364); 11 new Impact Society members ($365–499); 5 new YAD Executive Circle members ($500–999); one new BGS member ($1000+). We also excited to share that we now have a young adult Pacesetter household! The YAD Event—A Carnival Experience In October the Federation crafted a once- in-a-lifetime experience for our Pacesetters. Seven couples embarked on a journey to witness Jewish life in Gibraltar and the North African nation of Morocco. Dr. Jeffrey Whitman reflected on his experience, “The Pacesetter mission to Morocco was a perfect mix of vacation and exposure to what our Federation dollars do internationally. To go to a Jewish Day school in Casablanca or visit a center where the dwindling number of Jewish aged can have a kosher meal or Shabbat with other Jews just felt good—it felt right. I now want to do more, see more and help my fellow Jews who cannot always help themselves—more.” A Memorable Mission to Gibraltar and Morocco for 14 Dallas Pacesetters 2019 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN EVENTS
