www.jewishdallas.org The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas had another impressive and record-breaking year raising $11,425,762 and benefiting more than 85 Jewish organizations and initiatives worldwide, extending from the Dallas area all the way to the Western Galilee in Israel. Of the total funds raised, $10,300,000 were unrestricted donations made to the 2018 Annual Campaign with an additional $1,125,762 of restricted donations. Unrestricted donations are allocated to provide core support to community partner agencies and affiliated Federation program departments. Annual Campaign dollars allowed for further allocations through its newly restructured grants program. “We believe that this shift enabled the Federation to better serve the needs of our partner agencies and Jewish organizations across the community,” said Stefani Eisenstat, 2016–2018 Chair of the Jewish Federation’s Planning & Allocations Committee. “The broadened criteria and new focus for grants enabled agencies to focus on programs that will enhance their work and strengthen their organizations” she continued. Funds totaling $738,000 were awarded to the Jewish Federation’s partner agencies for Long-Term and Short-Term grants, and for the fifth consecutive year, non- partner agencies received Short-Term grants totaling $134,850. Short-Term grants provide support to congregations and Jewish organizations for new and innovative programming, one-time programs or events or short series, or seed funding, to launch a new initiative that addresses one of the Jewish Federation’s impact areas—social services, education, Jewish identity, outreach & engagement, global and local responsibility and security. “We were pleased with the depth of ideas submitted for the Short-Term Grants. These grants provide much-needed funds to a variety of organizations across our community,” shared Robin Kosberg, current Chair of the Jewish Federation’s Planning & Allocations committee. “The Planning & Allocations Committee takes great pride in the responsibility of making these funding decisions on behalf of our community.” Organizations include Chabad Student Center at UT Austin, DATA, Temple Emanu-El, Anshai Torah, Texas Jewish Arts Association, Israeli Scouts and many more. “Knowing that every dollar raised will positively impact not only our own Dallas Jewish community, but also people in need in Israel and around the globe is humbling to say the least.” —Mark Kreditor, Board Chair Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas “We could not be more excited to have closed a record campaign this year,” said Mark Kreditor, Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. “The passion and tenacious spirit from both our professional and lay leadership was the driving force behind the success of the 2018 campaign. Knowing that every dollar raised will positively impact not only our own Dallas Jewish community, but also people in need in Israel and around the globe is humbling to say the least,” he added. Almost 5,500 donors participated this year, 600 of which, are under the age of 40. These donors have made it possible for the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas to allocate funds to local, national and international organizations who will continue to serve both Jewish and non- Jewish communities over the next year. According to A.J. Rosmarin, the Jewish Federation’s Financial Resource Development Chair and incoming board chair, “The dollars allocated from our Annual Campaign provide significant and necessary funds to support numerous agencies across Dallas and around the world.” Funds collected through the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas’ 2018 Annual Campaign support many local agencies including, but are not limited to, the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service, The Legacy Senior Communities, Community Homes for Adults, Inc. (CHAI), six area Jewish day and high schools, the Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Tolerance & Education, and Moishe House and Hillel, which offers support for young adults and college students. In Israel and around the world, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas supports and works with its global partners, such as the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). >> Please see the following pages for our 2018 Numbers to Know and Allocations.
